Clarity

Every proposal arrives as a story. Someone has spent weeks making it sound inevitable. The discipline of Clarity is the habit of hearing the story all the way through, nodding, and then asking for the one page that was left out.

The house marks this discipline with a single point of light. One pale stone, sometimes one clear one, set in a circle of black. It is the most recognisable thing we make, and the quietest way of saying: I saw it.

Silver-sheen obsidian looks black until it is turned. Then a band of silver appears from inside the stone, and disappears when the angle passes. The old keepers called it the stone of the second look, and kept it for people who had to read a room twice: once as it presented itself, once as it was.

Clear quartz is older than that. Every tradition that has a word for seeing plainly has a use for a single clear stone, held to the eye or worn against the pulse. One is enough. More than one is decoration.

Grey moonstone and white crackle agate belong to the same family of belief: stones kept for perspective, for the page turned, for the long view over the loud one.

A Clarity piece is worn with the focal stone turned to the inside of the wrist, where the wearer sees it and the room does not. The habit that grows around it is simple: before answering, the eye drops to the pale stone for a moment, and the answer that comes after is usually shorter.

Wearers of this discipline tend to be the ones who ask the last question in the meeting. They are also, in our experience, the ones who send the shortest emails.
