Half polished black obsidian, half warm sandalwood, joined in one continuous circle with no metal between them. The split is exact. One half stays the same for years; the other darkens with the hand.

The old belief is that obsidian absorbs what is loud and that sandalwood remembers whoever wears it; together they make a piece about boundaries, the line between what you hold still and what you let change. In the old language, 分野 was the border between two territories, drawn once and respected after.
