Two strands of four-millimetre black spinel and hematite, closed by a silver-tone toggle. The beads are the smallest and hardest the house uses; the closure is the only sculptural thing about it. Under a cuff it reads as a single dark line.

It belongs to Composure. Tradition gives spinel the precision of a very hard stone, and hematite the weight of iron for grounding. In the old calendar the hour after midnight, 子时, is when one day has ended and the next has not yet begun. It is the hour of the people who decide alone.

Made for the wearer who takes the late call and the early one, and needs the wrist to stay still through both. The clasp makes it exact to the centimetre.
